William Parashchak

William Parashchak, 93, of Monessen, died Monday, February 14, 2011 in the Residence at Hilltop.He was born in Monessen on March 5, 1917, the son of the late Alex and Eva (Dadio) Parashchak. He was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1935 graduate of Monessen High School. John was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Thomas McKee Post 28 of the American Legion, and Alision Lescanac Post 1190 of the V.F.W. He was a retired electrician, having worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel's Monessen Plant and for the Corps of Engineers, Lock and Dam #4. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Army in South Africa and Europe.He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Roth Bellora of Monessen, his nieces and nephews, Evie (Stanley) Matinsky of Monessen, Rob (Cindy) Bellora of Rostraver Twp., Laurie (Linwood) Bellora of West Virginia, and by numerous great nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Steve and Harry Parashchak, a sister Anna Parashchak, and by a nephew Steve Bellora. Friends will be received on Thursday Feb. 17, 2011 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen,(724-684-8750). A Trisagion service will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral service in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen. The Allision Lescanac Post 1190 and the Thomas McKee Post 28 of the American Legion will conduct a service on Thursday at 9:30 am in the funeral home.
