William A. Hyrchak, 83, of Monessen, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Monessen on July 31, 1925, the son of the late Anthony and Mary Yoney Hyrchak. Bill was a 1944 graduate of Monessen High School and a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Eagles Aerie 2399, American Legion Post 28, V.F. W. Post 1190, and a life member of the Ukrainian Literary and Beneficial Association, all of Monessen.. Bill had worked as a butcher at the former Hyrchak's Meats and Grocery store. He was a veteran of WW II, having served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army, and was part of the D-Day invasion.He is survived by sister, Helen Hrycko of Monessen, and nephews and nieces.Friends will be received on Thursday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750/www.dalfonso-billick.com).Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 13, 2009, at 10:00 am in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Monessen (Everyone is to meet at church). Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. The V.F.W. Post 1190 and the American Legion Post 28, will conduct services at 7 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
