William A. "Bucky" Bernard, 81, of Monessen, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Monessen on September 8, 1929, the son of the late Andrew William and Imogene (DeTemple) Bernard. Bucky was a life long resident of Monessen,a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and over the years had belong to many social clubs in Monessen. He was a retired railroad engineer, having worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel's Monessen Southwestern Railroad. Bucky served with the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War from 1947 to 1952, and in the Coast Guard Reserves until 1955.He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Debbie Bernard of Monessen, Andrew Bernard of Monessen, a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Michael Savage of Roslyn, PA, four granddaughters, Brittany greco, Jenifer and Heather Bernard, and Rebecca Hillman and husband Eric, a great grandson Brayden Charles Erhman, and by nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Claire T. (Burke) Bernard, three sons, Skip, Brian, and Jack Bernard, and by a sister Betty Uhaul.Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed AvenueMonessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
