Viola A. D'Altorio, 96, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, February 19, 2009 in Harmerville Village Care Center, Cheswick.She was born in Jeannette on January 17, 1913, the daughter of the late Pio and Mary Cercone Gentilo. Mrs. D'Altorio moved to Monessen in 1934 when she married her late husband, Henry D'Altorio. While living in Monessen, she was active in the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C., CD of A Court 776, Italian-American Heritage Society, the former Sons of Italy Regina Lodge, and the Mon Valley Hospital Auxillary.She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ronald and Jodi D'Altorio of New Kensington, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Jacob Dailey of Pottstown, five grandchildren, Catherine Howland ,Cynthia D'Altorio, Katherine, Christopher, and Matthew Dailey, Peter D'Altorio, and by nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Antoinette in 1941, a son, Gerald in 1946, two brothers, Edward and Lawrence Gentilo, and three sisters, Evelyn Roscher, Mary Battaglini, and Virginia Nannarone.Friends will be received on Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Saturday Feb. 21, 2009, beginning with a 11:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 12 noon Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
