Vincent "Sputzy" Sparacino, 81, of Monessen, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010 in The Donnell House, Washington, PA.He was born in Monessen on November 4, 1928, the son of the late Salvatore and Rosalie (Cefalu) Sparacino. "Sputzy", as his friends new him, was a life long resident of Monessen, and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, Knights of Columbus Council 954, Italian-American Heritage Society, and the V.F.W. Post 1190. He retired with 50 years of service from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, having worked in the blast furnace department. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy, having received the WWII Victory Medal.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gilda (Vince)Sparacino, a son, Jim "Sputzy" Sparacino of Pittsburgh, a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Scott Lassetter Alpharetta, GA, two granddaughters, Sarah Sparacino and Deveney Kowalski, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mickalina and Wilbur Harris and Elosie and Henry Baranowski, all of Monessen, a brother, Jack Sparacino of Belle Vernon, and by nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Salvatore, and Dominick Sparacino, and by two sisters, Ann LaBarbero and Vincentta Randanza.Friends will be received on Sunday Oct. 31st from 6 to 8 pm, and on Monday Nov. 1st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church.
