Susan "Sue" (Penjak) Bonafed, 98, of Monessen, died Saturday Jan. 11, 2020 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born on November 6, 1921 in Donora, the daughter of the late John and Ida (Kilvady) Penjak. Mrs. Bonafed was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Epiphany Ladies, and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 776. She was retired from Bell Telephone Co., where she worked as a Telephone operator. Surviving are her three children, Margaret A. "Peggy" Burksaze, Rev. Joseph E. Bonafed, Christine (Michael) Bonafed Singel; three grandchildren, Joanna Burksaze, Lucas and Alex Singel; a brother, James (Louise) Penjak; and by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Bonafed, two sisters, Edith DelBel and Mary Okowitz, and by two brothers, John and Joseph Penjak. Friends will be received in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen, on Wednesday from 3 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held on Thursday beginning with a 9:00 am Blessing in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. Monessen, with Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The family would like to thank the staff of B4 in Westmoreland Manor for their wonderful and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Westmoreland Manor 2460 S. Grande Blvd. Greensburg, PA 15601.
