Steven "Whooper" Furio, 65, of Carroll Twp., died unexpectedly on Friday January 20, 2017 in Monongahela Valley Hospital ER. He was born on May 21, 1951in North Charleroi, the son of Mildred (Mihalik) Furio of Monessen, and the late Romeo E. Furio. Steven grew up in Monessen and was a 1970 graduate of Monessen High School. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. having worked at the Allenport and Monessen Plants. He currently worked at Russell's Body and Frame in Charleroi. Steven was an avid car collector, a big Pittsburgh Steeler's fan and loved taking care of his pygmy goats. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Virginia (Kuzma) Furio, two brothers, Edward (Anna) Furio of Chesapeake, VA, Romeo (Lynn) Furio of Boulder City, NV; a sister, Mary (James) Earl of Monessen; sister-in-law, Christine Goswick of Pittsburgh; brother-in-law, Robert Kuzma of Oakland, CA; and by several cousins. Friends will be received on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 from 2 - 4 pm & 6 - 8 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, with Rev. Michael J. Crookston, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Twp.. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
