Sophia (Loulis) Loris

Sophia (Loulis) Loris, 104, of Monessen, passed away on Sunday Dec. 9, 2018 in Mon Valley Care Center. She was born on October 31, 1914 in Icaria, Greece, the daughter of the late John and Angeliki (Pierce) Loulis. Mrs. Loris has been a resident of Monessen since moving to the United States in 1922. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society Chapter 6032, and was a active member of the Monessen Senior Center. She is survived by a daughter Mary (Raymond) Calderone of Monessen; a son, George (Ann) Loris of Finleyville; two brothers, Angelo Loulis of Monessen, and Michael (Mary Jane) Loulis of Newton Falls, OH; a sister, Ethel Pyros of Long Island, NY; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Barbara, three sisters, Georgia Mitikas, Florence Androulidakis, Mary Argirakis, and by two brothers, Stanley and Xenophone Loulis. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen, and on Thursday from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 pm with Fr. George L. Livanos officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
