Saveria "Silvia" Gigliotti, 93, of Monessen, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.She was born in Gizzeria Calabria, Italy on May 11, 1916, the daughter of the late Luigi and Eugenia Calabria. Mrs. Gigliotti has resided in Monessen since 1939 and was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and its Epiphany Ladies, Court 776 of the C.D. of A., Italian Society of Mutual Aid, Italian-American Heritage Society, and a former member of the St. Cajetan Christian Mothers. She is survived by her son, Louis Gigliotti, a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Greg "Woody" Carroto, all of Monessen, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Robin Calabria of Benezzette, PA, Bruno and Maria Calabria of Churchill, a sister and brother-in-law, Carmelina and Ben Zeff of Monroeville, five grandchildren, Christin (Tim) Maatta, Kelly (Tony) Vitale, Chad (Loren) Carroto, A. Jason Gigliotti, Jenine Gigliotti, four great-granddaughters, Victoria Maatta, Elena and Sophia Vitale, Bella Carroto, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Antonio "Tony" Gigliotti, and by a daughter-in-law Nancy (Metzger) Gigliotti.Friends will be received on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm, and on Friday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen.
