Rita Masci, 61, of Monessen, died Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Southwest Nursing Center, West Mifflin.She was born in N. Charleroi on November 7, 1949, the daughter of the late Umbert and Teresa (Giovagnorio) Maiolini. Rita was a life long resident of Monessen, and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She had served on parish council and was an organist at the former St. Cajetan Church. Rita served on the board for the Mon Valley Refuse Authority, was a member of the Monessen City Park Restoration Committee, and was a social member of the Italian Society of Mutual Aid.Rita was employed by the City of Monessen having worked as a clerk in the Treasurers Office. She had previously worked for The Valley Independent in the circulation department, and at the former Central Pharmacy in Monessen. Rita enjoyed attending the U.S. Navy reunions of the USS James C. Owens which were held in various cities throughout the United States along with her husband. She also loved to bake desserts for her husband to take and share with the Epiphany Church pierogi making crew.She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Lawrence A. "LaLa" Masci, two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bert and Susan Maiolini of Bethel Park, Ralph Maiolini of Roscoe, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and John Novicki of Monessen, two sisters-in-law, Loretta DiBiaso and Virginia Marcozzi, both of Monessen, by an uncle, aunts, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.Friends will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 pm, and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
