Peter "Pete" Peckyno

Peter Peckyno, 94, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday Nov. 16, 2017 in Mt. Vernon of South Park. He was born on July 18, 1923 in Monessen, the son of the late Frank and Sophia (Drahobecky) Peckyno. Pete was a life long resident of Monessen and was a retired motor inspector from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church where he served as a trustee for many years, and the Knights of Columbus Council 954. Pete served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army in Normandy, France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He is survived by two sons, Peter L. (Melinda) Peckyno of Derrick City, PA, Timothy (Michele) Peckyno of Bethel Park; a daughter, Patty (Rick) Consiglio of Gilford, CT; six grandchildren, Hannah Consiglio, Alissa (David) Farrell, Ryan Peckyno, Parker Peckyno, Bradley Peckyno and Krista (Brandon) Thompson; seven great grandchildren, Orion Peckyno, Roger Farrell, Aiden Wernicki, Madison Peckyno, Owen Peckyno, Olivia Peckyno, Nico Orlando Thompson; sister Helen Peresolak of Belle Vernon, two brothers John (Sylvia) Peckyno of Hagerstown, MD, Steve (Evelyn) Peckyno of Bethel Park, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ann V. (Vitkovich) Peckyno, four brothers, George, Michael, Frank, and Charles Peckyno, a sister Mary Fedarko, and by two infants Michael and Emma. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Monday beginning with a Panachida at 9:30 am, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, with Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating.
