Paul T. Matta, 92, of Monessen, died Thursday, September 20, 2007 in Meadowcrest Nursing Center, Bethel Park.He was born in Monessen on April 11, 1915, the son of the late Michael and Mary Mendola Matta. Mr. Matta was a 1936 graduate of Rostraver High School.He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, Monessen AARP, Hungarian Society, the former Open Hearth Bowling League, and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates baseball fan. He was retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. haveing worked in the Open Hearth Department.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ann Chackovics Matta, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel P. and Teresa Matta of Belle Vernon, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Donald Wolf of Delaware, OH, Janey and Manuel Rodriguez of Perry Twp., eight gradchildren, Brain Wolf and wife Glenna, Greg and Michael Wolf, Alicia, Jeremy and Noelle Matta, Chad Warfield and wife Renae, Matthew Warfield, and nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Mike, and George Matta, and John Kaylo.Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home, Inc. 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Sarturday Sept. 22, 2007, beginning with a 8:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 9:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
