Nick Smerilli, 81, of Monessen, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc..He was born in Monessen on January 27, 1926, the son of the late Giuseppe and Dominica Prociutto Smarelli.Mr. Smerilli was a life long resident of Monessen and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. He was also a member of the Hilltop Firemens Club and a former member of the ULBA Club, both in Monessen. He retired with 42 years of service from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., having worked in the chipping beds department.He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army .He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandra E. Carosi Smerilli, two sons, Ronald Smerilli and wife Darla of New Eagle, Nicholas Smerilli of Monessen, three daughters, Linda Goad and husband Stanley of Claudville, VA, Kathy Vlasic and husband Wayne of Monessen, Joyce Smerilli and partner Mickey Salay of Monessen, two sisters, Mamie Kostelansky and husband Norman of Monessen, Rose Smyth and husband Jerry of Anchorage, Alaska, five grandchildren, Tim Goad and wife Tamara, Justin Smerilli, Rachel Morgan, Lindsey Vlasic, Gianna Smerilli, two great grandchildren, Leslie Brown and Kendal Morgan, and by nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Eckenrod, his second wife, Elizabeth Klochak Smerilli, two brothers, James and George Smarelli, and by two sisters, Connie Gazda and Angeline Stechly.Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home, Inc. 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Friday Feb. 16, 2007, beginning with 9:30 AM Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
