Nicholas Chulig, 87, of Monessen, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Donora on November 25, 1921, the son of the late Peter and Anna Chulig.He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 194, Croatian Home in Monessen and the Croatian Club in Yukon.. He was retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, having worked in the maintenance department. He was a veteran of WW II , having served with the U.S.Navy on the USS Cleveland during the Asiatic Pacific Theater.He is survived by four nephews, Karl Chulig of Library, Gregory Chulig of Monessen, Brian Chulig of Lakeland, FL, Jeffrey D. Woods of Monessen, an Uncle and aunt, Steve and Frances Grcich of Donora.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katherine Magatz Chulig, a brother Carl Chulig and two sisters, Pauline Gomeriac and Mildred Jones.Friends will be received in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750), on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 pm, time of the service with Pastor John Custer of the Orchard Christian Fellowship.
