Mike L. Maisano, 86, of Monessen, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home.He was born in Monessen on March 9, 1924, the son of the late John and Louise (Dominick) Maisano. Mike was a life long resident of Monessen, a 1942 graduate of Monessen High School, and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 954, Thomas McKee Post 28 American Legion, Italian Society of Mutual Aid, and the Mon Valley Association of Steelworkers (MARS), all of Monessen. Mike retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, and was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann (Buffa)Maisano, five children, Carol Gussman of Pittsburgh, Bob (Myra) Maisano of Stuart, FL, Tom (Tracy) Maisano of Donora, Joe Maisano of Monessen, Aimee (Larry) Pro of Monessen, five grandchildren, Carisa and Dieter Quinn, Amanda Gussman, Michael and John Maisano, a brother, Eugene (Helen) Maisano of Monessen, three sisters, Mary Sciacca of Charleroi, Mildred (Sis) Bethem of Belle Vernon, Marlene (James) Johnston of Donora, and by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Michael Maisano, three sisters, Margaret Perry, Lena and Virginia Maisano, and by a brother Anthony "Vas" Maisano.Friends will be received on Sunday Jan. 2nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church.
