Martha A. Destefano, 78, of Monessen, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.
She was born in Rostraver Twp., on April 22, 1937, the daughter of the late Arthur Olkonen and Helen (Lunt) Jadyk. Martha was a lifelong resident of Monessen, a 1955 graduate of Monessen High School, and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She had served as a Westmoreland County Judge of Elections in Monessen, 2nd Ward, 1st Precinct. Martha had worked for 15 years as a waitress at the former Peasant Village Restaurant and for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation at its Monessen Plant.
She is survived by two sons, Anthony "Rocky" (Cheryl) Destefano of Carroll Twp., Bruce (Holly) Destefano of Monessen, two daughters, Lori (Mark) Tucker of Okmulgee, OK, Dyann (John) Bury of Monessen, a sister, Marian Stepoli of Monessen, eight grandchildren, Jerry, Erica, and Jessica Destefano, Anthony "Rudy" and Cassie Destefano, Amber Gassen, Sarah and Cameron Bury, eleven great grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Gassen, Kady Burgess, Gio Destefano, Tamir and Tai'lyn Pone, Hunter, Lane, Gunner, Eliana, and Cheyenne Oliver.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen (724-684-8750). Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 9:30 am in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy Dawes officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
