Louis M. "Uncle Lou" Perry, 87, of Monessen, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2009, with his loving niece at his side in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc..He was born in Donora on February 21, 1922, the son of the late Frank and Mary Piscatelli Perry. He grew up in Donora, and had worked at the Donora Southern Railroad. He later worked and retired from J and L Steel Company in Pittsburgh. Following his retirement, he worked part time for E.J. Burns Construction of Belle Vernon. Uncle Lou moved to Monessen in 1966, and married his late wife, Edith Altomari Perry, on Oct. 11, 1969. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, American Legion Post 212 of Donora, and the United Steelworkers of America. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Navy on board the USS LSM 141 during the Battle of Iwo Jima, Japan.He is survived by two sisters, Carol Verbich of Fairless Hills, Rosemary Ferrara and husband Barto of Monessen, two sisters-in-law, Francis Perry of Uniontown, Elvira Altomari of Monessen, thirteen nieces and nephews; Bart L. (Dianna) Ferrara of Monessen, Eugene (Charlotte) Perry of Meritstown, Paul Perry of Uniontown, Annamarie (Jack) Purcell of Chalk Hill, Frank (Beth) Perry of Burke, VA, John (Debbie) Verbich of Cranbury, NJ, Alexis (Bruce) Stevens of Yardley, PA, Ginny (Ed) Burns of Monessen, Donna (Frank) Francia of Monessen, Rick (Denise) Altomari of Pittsburgh, Diane Altomari, of Lewisville, TX, Joseph (Peggy) Mendola of Monessen, Edward (Kathy) Mendola of Rostraver Twp., and by numerous great nieces and great nephews.In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Antonio "Banj" Perry, Eugene "Jake" Perry, an infant sister Francis Rose, and by a brother-in-law Paul Verbich.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Wednesday March 11, 2009, beginning with a 11:30 am Blessing at the funeral home, followed by a 12 noon Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
