Louis G. Laneve, 86, of Donora, formerly of Monessen and Mauldin, SC, died Sunday September 3, 2017 in U.P.M.C. Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He was born in Monessen, on November 3, 1930, the son of the late Anthony and Marjorie (Reppert) Laneve. Louis grew up in Monessen and was a 1948 graduate of Monessen High School. He served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, and the former St. Cajetan Church, having been a member of its Choir, Holy Name Society, bowling league, and St. Cajetan Italian Orchestra. He was also a member of the V.F.W., Post 1845 in Mauldin, SC. Louis played the drums and was a member of the former Mellow Men Band that played at various clubs throughout the Mon Valley. He had worked at the Page Division of American Chain and Cable in Monessen from 1953 to 1970, Power Piping in Donora from 1970 to 1980, and retired from B.F. Shaw in Laurens, SC having worked as a Quality Control Inspector. He is survived by two sons, Louis A. Laneve of Easley, SC, Leonard P. (Karen) Laneve of Simpsonville, SC, three daughters, Alice (Richard) Pastella of Monessen, Margie L.(Thomas) Brounce of Fredrick, CO, Patti (Burt) Ruth of Monongahela, seven grandchildren, Christy (Russell) McCabe, Nathan (Tammy) Brounce, Aimee (Nathan) Massafra, Abbey (Sean) McSwigan, Ricky Pastella, Ross Ruth, and Gabriel Laneve, three great grandchildren, Teagen and Linus Brounce, Brecken Massafra, and by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Laneve, granddaughter, Maria Laneve, two sisters, Beverly Owsiany and Martha Hasco, and by a brother, Charles E. Laneve. Friends will be received in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, on Thursday, Sept.7, 2017, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Services will be held on Friday Sept. 8, 2017, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. Monessen.
