Louis R. Greco, 88, of Monessen, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 13, 2012 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Donora on April 9, 1923, the son of the late Luigi and Rosaria Greco. Mr. Greco grew up in Donora and was a 1941 graduate of Donora High School. Prior to and after returning from the service, he worked at the former U.S. Steel Donora Plant. During WW II, Mr. Greco served in the U. S. Army's 572nd Anti Aircraft Battalion in Europe. Mr. Greco and his wife were co-owners of Greco's General Store in Monessen for 42 years. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and the Thomas McKee Post 28, American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barnie Greco, his daughter and son-in-law, Lois and David Bodnar of Mt. Lebanon, a sister Yolanda Thornton of Donora, a granddaughter, Jill Bodnar of Seattle, WA, and by many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen,(724-684-8750). Services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, with Rev. James Bump officiating. Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Donora.The Thomas McKee Post 28 of the American Legion will conduct services on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Epiphany Church, 618 Knox Ave. Monessen, PA 15062.Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
