Kathryn "Kay" T. Palanza, 89, of Monessen, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 in Havencrest Nursing Center.She was born in Adrian, PA on July 10, 1920, the daughter of the late John and Mary Tomasko. Mrs. Palanza was a resident of Monessen most all her life, and a member of the former St. Cajetan Roman Catholic Church and the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She was retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation and was a avid dancer to the sounds of the Big Band era.She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Palanza and wife Pam of Wilmington, NC, James J. Palanza and Christan R. Funk of Coal Center, a sister Julia DeFrancesco of Monessen, five grandchildren, David Piscitelli, Addison, Mickey, James J. II, and Maya Palanza, two great grandchildren, Kolin and Kathryn Piscitelli, and by several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Palanza, four brothers, Michael Novak, Jack and Andrew Evonko, John Tomasko, and by two sisters, Mary and Ann Toteda.Friends will be received on Friday June 25th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Saturday, June 26th, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church.
