Joseph G. Gorman, 82, of Longmont, CO, died on March 11, 2009 at the HospiceCare Center of Louisville, CO. He was born June 5, 1926 in Monessen, the son of the late Joseph W. and Emily (Hemmelsbach) Gorman. He was a 1943 graduate of Monessen High School and a 1946 graduate University of Virginia. He received his Masters in Physics from the University of Virginia in 1948, and his PhD in Physics from Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1954. He is survived by his wife Mary of Longmont; one son and daughter-in-law Guy and Linden Gorman of Richmond, VA; a daughter and son-in-law Christie Gorman and Michael McCarthy of Denver, CO, a granddaughter Carolyn E. McCarthy, and two sisters Clairta Billick of Monessen, and Katherine Waters (Paul) of Washington, DC.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Thomas Gorman, and a sister Mary Halahan.Funeral services were held in Longmont, Colorado.
