Joseph J. "Cappy" Caporossi, 86, of Monessen, died Friday, March 19, 2010 in Mon Valley Care Center, Carroll Twp.He was born in Monessen on November 13, 1923, the son of the late Patrizio and Emma (Cruciani) Caporossi. Cappy was a life long resident of Monessen, a 1943 graduate of Monessen High School, and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. He was also a member of the Epiphany Church Holy Name Society, having been named "Father of the Year" in 2008, the Knights of Columbus Council 954, American Legion Post 28, Italian-American Heritage Society, the Westmoreland Columbus 500, MARS, Italian Society of Mutual Aid, and a former member of the Monessen Elks 773 and the NIPA Club, having served as an officer for many years. He retired with 40 years of service from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, having worked in the Industrial Engineering Department. He was a veteran of WWII , having served with the U.S. Army.He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Angela Palombo Caporossi, two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph L. and Melinda Caporossi of Middletown, OH, Ronald J. and Sandra Caporossi of Willoughby Hills, OH, his granddaughter, Katherine Caporossi of Willoughby Hills, OH, and by his nieces and nephews, William Judy, Diane DeLuca, Michael Palombo, Joseph Cruciani, and Lydia Scenna.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Ornella Doty, and by his brother Frank Caporossi.Cappy was a loving husband, a great dad to his sons, and a devoted grandfather who enjoyed being with his family. Friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9, and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Monday, March 22, 2010, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Twp.The Knights of Columbus Council 954 will conduct a prayer service on Sunday at 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
