John Leone, 90, of Monessen, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Monessen on February 6, 1921, the son of the late Antonio and Josephine (Caporossi) Leone. Mr. Leone was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1939 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and its Holy Name Society. John retired with 37 years of service from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation having worked in the galvanizing department, finishing side riggers and scale shop.He was a veteran of WW II , having served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific with the 227th Antiaircraft Artillery Searching Battalion.John was a loving husband and father who enjoyed being at home with his family.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jane (Kovalitsky) Leone, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Harold "Red" Warfield of Monessen, Janet and Russell "Skip" Hoade of Laurinburg, NC, two sisters-in-law, Sarah Leone of Donora, June Leone of Belle Vernon, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; Patricia Ramsey, Mary Merando, Rally Fuoco, Florence Leone, and Julia Borruso, and by two brothers Thomas and Alfred Leone.Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
