Joanne Marie (Beck) Sickels

Joanne Marie Beck Sickels , 79, of Monessen, died Saturday January 21, 2017 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born in Monessen, on Sept. 27, 1937, the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Karr) Beck Bruce. Joanne was a 1955 graduate of Monessen High School and the Douglas School of Business. She was employed as a secretary by the Westinghouse Bettis Division in West Mifflin and later worked at the Health Mart in Monessen. Joanne was an enthusiastic traveler, bowler, card player and an avid reader who enjoyed many friendships. She was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church in Monessen and a former member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Church. She had also resided in West Newton for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents Elizabeth and Michael Karr and Rose and Jack Beck. Joanne is survived by two brothers; Steve (Sylvia) Beck of Monessen, Gary Beck of Cleveland, OH, two sisters; Sharon Arpin of Cleveland, OH and Susan Smith of Florida, a niece Julie (Dr. Jeffrey) Persico of Michigan, a nephew Steve (Valarie) Beck of Monessen, godsons, C. Thomas (Marilyn) Verbish and Adam C. Verbish, both of Greensburg, additional nieces and nephews, and by a very dear friend, Rita Cocca and family of Monessen. Friends will be received in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm. Services will be held on Friday Jan. 27, 2017, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 618 Knox Ave. Monessen, PA 15062.
