Jennie J. Valente, 83, of Monessen, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 with her family at her side.She was born in Monessen on June 7, 1928, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria Rosa Valente. She was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1946 graduate of Monessen High School. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, and Court 776 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Years ago Jennie had worked as a clerk at the former Books Shoe Store and Samuels Shoe Store in Monessen. She retired in 1991 from Corning Glass in Charleroi. When she was young, Jennie was a avid volleyball player and played for Turners in Monessen. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dominick S. and Marie Valente of Monessen, nephew Joseph E. "Lumpy" Lombardo of Dunlevy and great nephew Joseph R. "JR" Lombardo of Monessen, whom together provided care to their aunt for the last five years, nephew Joseph F. and Beverly Valente of Crafton, and by great nieces and great nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Louise and Carmella L. Valente.Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750). Services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Fr. Michael Crookston officiating.
