James E. Flaherty, 77, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg.He was born in Sharon on July 5, 1931, the son of the late Norbert and Kathryn Burger Flaherty. Jim was a parishioner of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, life member of the Eagles Aerie 2399, and former member of St. Cajetan Bowling League. He retired from Liggetts Spring and Axle in Forward Twp.He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy Jo and John Sweeney of South Huntingdon Twp., Terri Ann and Michael Fisher of Monessen, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Robin Flaherty of Philadelphia, five grandchildren, Catherine and Vincent DeRose of Ashville, OH, John Sweeney Jr. of South Huntingdon Twp., Jamie, Michael, and Eric Fisher all of Monessen, a sister, Sharon Ramsey of Charleroi, a great granddaughter, Olivia DeRose and by nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vesio Flaherty, on Jan. 12, 2009..Friends will be received on Sunday from 6 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Monday May 4, 2009, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
