Guy Lang, 86, of Monessen, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Belle Vernon on July 1, 1921, the son of the late John and Anna Catherine Winn Lang. Mr. Lang was a resident of Monessen most all his life, and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and the former St. Leonard's R.C. Church, American Legion Post 28, V.F.W. Post 1190, and the Eagles Aerie 2399. He was retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, having worked in the Open Hearth Electrical Department. Following his retirement, he worked at the former Star Lanes Bowling Alley. Mr. Lang was an avid bowler, and a member of several bowling leagues over the years. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army in Co. L of the 319th Infantry Regiment in Europe, receiving the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a bronze star.He is survived by wife of 64 years, Carmella "Corkie" Lang, a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas D. and Patti Lang of Belle Vernon, a daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Lawrence Sobek of Monessen, three grandchildren, Natalie R. Glaspey and husband Christian of Belle Vernon, Thomas A. Lang of Belle Vernon, Yancy J. Sobek and wife Melissa of Monessen, four great grandchildren, Christian, Carley and Conner Glaspey, and Isabella Sobek, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Bill Watson of Monessen, Donna and Frank Jan of Columbus, OH, and by several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Melford, William, and John Lang, two sisters Evelyn Havrilak and Maryellen Wysochanski, and by a granddaughter Andrea P. Lang.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held onWednesday Feb. 27, 2008, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The American Legion Post 28 and the VFW Post 1190, will conduct a joint service on Tuesday at 7:15 pm in the funeral home.
