Giuseppi "Joseph" Scaccia, 85, of Monessen, died Sunday, September 16, 2007 in The Rehab and Nursing Center at Greater Pittsburgh in Greensburg.He was born in Alia Sicily, Italy on April 18, 1922, the son of the late Salvatore and Giuseppina DiPiazza Scaccia.Mr. Scaccia grew up in Italy, and served in the Italian Army during WW II. He had been a resident of Monessen since 1947, and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. He was retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, having worked in the bundling and maintenance departments. While living in Italy, Mr. Scaccia learned the craft of shoemaking, and brought his craft to Monessen having operated "Joe's Shoe Repair" on Ninth Street in for many years.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marie Greco Scaccia, his son, Joseph Scaccia of Monessen, two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemarie and Rick Patton of St. Albans, WV, Toni and John Orsino of North Huntingdon Twp., a sister, Concetta Miceli of Monessen, seven grandchildren, Rick Patton Jr., Lindsay, Justin, Cameron, and Aaron Scaccia, Dominic and Anthony Orsino, and by several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Rosalia Scaccia and a brother-in-law Alfredo Miceli.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home, Inc. 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Wednesday Sept. 19, 2007, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
