Gilda M. Welsh, 91, of Monessen, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at her home. She was born in Monessen on May 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Anthony and Ida Liberati Maiolini. Gilda was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a graduate of Monessen High School. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and Italian American Heritage Society. Years ago, she worked for the former G.C. Murphy Company in Monessen. Gilda was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed to cook and bake. She is survived by her son, James E. (Taunya Anderson) Welsh of Coal Center, two grandchildren, James A. and Lauren A. Welsh, a sister, Norma (Thomas) Jones of Rostraver Twp., a sister-in-law, Catherine Maiolini of Rostraver Twp., and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Welsh, son John Anthony Welsh, and by four brothers, Umbert, Natalino, Silvio, and Sergio Maiolini. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015, beginning with a 11:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 12 noon Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church.
