Gene H. Werre, 64, of Long Branch, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 4, 2009.He was born in Forks, Washington on February 11, 1945, the son of the late Herbert and Alma (Stordahl) Werre. Gene grew up and spent most of his life in Chugiak, Alaska. His passion for Jesus Christ was evidenced by a deep abiding relationship with the Lord as well as service to several churches throughout his lifetime. He served as a deacon at the Atlanta Christian Center in Atlanta, Georgia, then as an elder at the Abbott Loop Christian Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Since moving to Pennsylvania, he has assisted his brother-in-law, Pastor John Custer at the Orchard Christian Fellowship in Monessen, where he served as an ordained elder, bible teacher, and sound system manager. A cabinet maker by trade, he was the owner and operator of Gene's Cabinets and Design. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Christine L. (Custer) Werre, his son, Joel A. Werre of Long Branch, two daughters and son-in-law, Jessica M. and Timothy Cribbins of Pittsburgh, Tamara Roxanne Werre, his four grandchildren who brought much joy to his life, Fionna, Regan, Liam, and Keeley Cribbins of Pittsburgh, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jerry and Debbie Werre of Anchorage, AK, Dan and LaDonna Werre, Stanwood, MI, Robbie Werre of Birchwood, AK, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene R. and James Mielke of Wasilla, AK, Kim and Robert Diggins of Mesa, AZ. Gene was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.Friends will be received on Friday from 5 to 8 pm in the Orchard Christian Fellowship, 721 Schoonmaker Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 am with Pastor John Custer officiating. Interment will follow in Howe Cemetery, Long Branch.
