Frank Jannotta, 92, of Monessen, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2008 in U.P.M.C. Presbyterian. He was born in Calvi Risorta, Italy on January 26, 1916. Frank immigrated to the United States in 1934 following his father Luigi Iannotta who was already living in Monessen working as a tailor. Subsequently Frank's brothers, Mike and Tony and their mother Filomena came to Monessen as well. By the 1940's Luigi and Michael had already opened Jannotta's Tailor Shop. Later Tony operated his shoe repair shop nearby. Frank initially worked with his father and brother in the tailor shop. In the 1950's he opened his own barber shop and worked until he retired at the age of 90 in January of 2006. On that occasion his family held a retirement dinner attended by over 100 family, friends, and long time customers. The shops of the three Jannotta brothers were a fixture of the downtown Monessen business district for many decades. Frank was preceded in death by his brothers Mike and Tony.In 1942 Frank married Rose Marie Capocasa whose family lived on Third Street in Monessen where there was a large community of Italians in those days. Rose preceded Frank in death in December of 1998. He is survived by three children, Philomena Brams of Upper St. Clair, Bruna Galati of Mt. Lebanon, and Louis Jannotta of Monessen. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Angela Brown and Michelle Stomieroski of Cleveland, OH, Frank Galati of Alexandria, VA, Michael Brams of Boynton Beach, FL, and Andrew Brams of Butler, and by two great grandchildren, Joshua and Elizabeth Galati, and several nieces and nephews.Frank was a member of the Italian Society of Mutual Aid as well as a life long member of the former St. Cajetan R. C. Church, now the Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church.Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Monday Nov. 17, 2008, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
