Eva D. Stratigos, 86, of Monessen, died on October 1, 2016 peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Eva was born in Monessen on June 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Harry N. Fisfis and Chresanthe Christy Fisfis from Chios, Greece. Mrs. Stratigos was a lifelong resident of Monessen, a 1948 honors graduate of Monessen High School, and attended Chatham College.
In her younger years, Eva was involved with the Greek School, Sunday School, and played the organ in the Choir at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church where she was an active member. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past Worthy Matron, 64-65.
Mrs. Stratigos was very involved in building "Snacks Enterprises" with her husband George, and assisted in operating the business for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Being with her family gave her the greatest joy. Eva is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, George H. Stratigos, her children, Sylvia S. Fafalios, Harry G. (Rebecca) Stratigos, and Chrisan (James) Olah, her four grandchildren, Anastasi (Alice) and Carissa (Pantelis) Fafalios, Eveana Olah, and Melina Stratigos, and by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Nicholas H. Fisfis.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 5 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm with Trisagion services at 7pm and an Eastern Star service at 7:30pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Additional visitation will be held at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church on Thursday at 9am followed by funeral services at 10am with Rev. Fr. Joeseph Cervo and Rev. Fr. William Zotis, officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 119 St. Spyridon Lane, Monessen, PA 15062.
