Eugene Desak Sr., 80, of Monessen, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at his home, following a lingering illness. He was born in Monessen on January 30, 1929, the son of the late Andrew and Helen Desak. Mr. Desak was a life long resident of Monessen, and a 1947 graduate of Monessen High School. He owned and operated Desak's Plumbing and Heating of Monessen for over 50 years. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and the former Most Holy Name of Jesus R. C. Church, Eagles Aerie 2399, the former Slovak Home, Croatian Social and Educational Society "Sloga", all of Monessen, the St. Johns Baptist Russian Orthodox Society #165 and the Italian Unita Club, both of Charleroi. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed gardening and duck pin bowling.He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Cheryl and Frank Galilei, and Mary Beth Bock, all of Monessen, three sons, Eugene "Bege" Desak Jr., Jon Desak and wife Cinclair, Andrew Desak and wife Marcy, all of Monessen, a brother and sister-in-law, Edward "Chick" and Rosemarie Desack of Charleroi, eleven grandchildren, Jodi, Jamie, Brittany, Racheal, and Kayla Desak, Chuck, Sarah, and Jessica Bock, Frank, Gina, and Christa Galilei, all of Monessen, a great granddaughter, Madison Galilei, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dolores (Peshok) Desak, and by several brothers and sisters.Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Saturday March 21, 2009, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R.
