Ernani C. Campana, 78, of Rostraver Twp., died Monday, January 1, 2007 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center.He was born in Monessen on August 18, 1928, the son of the late Jasper and Italia Como Campana. Mr. Campana grew up in Monessen, was a 1946 graduate of Monessen High School, and was a member of Monessen Elks Lodge 773. He retired from Southwesten Railroad in Monessen, and then worked as a Corrections Officer for ten years with the Department of Corrections at the former Western Penitenary in Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of WWII, having served with the U.S. Marines.He is survived by wife of 35 years, Esther Cooper Campana, three sons, Ronald Jerome Campana of Monessen, Nicholas J. Onufer and wife Carol of Fallowfield Twp., Michael W. Onufer of Los Angeles , CA, a daughter, Christine Louise McCreary of West Newton, two brothers, William Campana of Rostraver Twp., Ronald Campana and wife Micki of Monessen, a sister-in-law, Linda Campana of Monessen, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Jasper Campana.Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home, Inc. 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007, beginning with a 8:30 AM Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 9:00 AM Funeral Mass in theEpiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Interment will follow in Mon. Valley Memorial Park, Donora.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
