Elvira Marie Altomari, 94, of Monessen, died Monday, June 1, 2015 in Hallsworth House, Monessen. She was born in Italy on March 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Pietro Venneri and Agatha Perry Venneri. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Epiphany Ladies, and the former St. Cajetan Christian Mothers. Elvira was a seamstress, gardener, excellent cook, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a loyal friend. She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Ann (Edward) Burns and Donna (Frank) Francia, both of Monessen, a son, Richard (Denise) Altomari of Baldwin, a brother, Dr. A. J. (Rosanna) Venneri of Warwick, PA, seven grandchildren, Jim Burns, Jennifer (Tony) Mauro, Frank (Erin) Francia, Nick (Christine) Francia, Tony (Bernice Kirby) Francia, Brian Altomari, Amanda Altomari (Chad) Clark, ten great grandchildren, Anthony and Angelo Mauro, Dominick, Francesca, Gabriela, Gianna, Sofia, Nina, Vincenzo, and Vito Francia, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James P. Altomari, a brother Tony Venneri, and by a sister Gilda Sariego. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Ave. Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The Epiphany Ladies will conduct a prayer service on Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
