Elsie Melenchen, 89, of North Charleroi, died peacefully on Thursday September 21, 2017 at her residence. She was born on May 24, 1928 in Monessen, the daughter of the late Andrew and Carri (Dudchock) Kandrick. Elsie was a member of the ladies golf leagues at both Chippewa and Cedarbrook golf courses, and the Lock 4 Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking, was an excellent seamstress and quilter. Elsie was an avid Pittsburgh fan of the Pirates, Steelers and Penguin's. She loved dancing to the music of the 1940's and to Patsy Kline. She is survived by her children, Gregory M. Melenchen of Alexandria, VA and Michele Mandarino of Belle Vernon; sister, Elizabeth Yadlosky of Monessen; and also by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, John Yadlosky, Michael Yadlosky, Joan Salat, Michael Shane Yadlosky, Sherry Lynn Yadlosky, and Dee Ann (Brandon) Detman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Melenchen, two sisters Irene Kandrick and Ann Marie Salat, and by two brothers, Victor and Andrew Kandrick, . Friends will be received on Tuesday Sept. 26, 2017 from 5 pm to 8pm and on Wednesday from 9 am to 10 am in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am in the funeral home, with Fr. Constantine Churchin officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Melenchen's memory can be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Western PA (www.PFWPA.org) or the charity of one's choice.
