Elmer Andrachek, 92, of Monessen, passed away on Wednesday April 13, 2022 in Annapolis, MD. He was born on August 4, 1929 in Monessen, the son of the late John and Mary (Chemsak) Andrachek. Elmer was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1947 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus #954, the Mon Valley Slovak Cultural Society, the Greater Monessen Historical Society and Heritage Museum, and the Mon Valley Chordsmen. Elmer served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army in Stuttgart, Germany. He was retired from Monessen Southwestern Railroad at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, where he worked as a locomotive mechanic. He was a loving and giving husband, father, and uncle; a friend to many, and cared deeply about his Slovak and Byzantine Catholic heritage, being a first-generation American. Left to cherish his memory are his children, James (Deborah) Andrachek of Export, PA, Richard (Cindy) Andrachek of Vacaville, CA; Donna (James) Baker of Edgewater, MD; his grandchildren, Michael and Victoria Andrachek, Luke Baker, and Matthew, Luke, Mark, Rachael, Rebekah, and Elizabeth, and by three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Irene E. (Girman) Andrachek, two sisters Mary Lyons and Ann Panzo, and by two brothers John Jr. and George Andrachek. Friends will be received on Wednesday April 20th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Thursday April 21st beginning with a Panachida at 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 124 McKee Ave. Monessen, PA, with Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Rostraver Twp. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Greater Monessen Historical Society and Heritage Museum, 505 Donner Ave. Monessen, PA 15062.
