Elizabeth E. "Liz" Karol, 89, of Monessen, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in Mountainview Specialty Care, Greensburg.She was born in Monessen on December 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank S. Mandarino and Lena (Ferraro) Mandarino. Mrs. Karol was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1940 graduate of Monessen High School. Following graduation, she went to work as a secretary at the family business, Franks Service Garage in Monessen. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and its Epiphany Ladies, Catholic B.P. W., Italian-American Heritage Society, and Italian Society of Mutual Aid, all of Monessen.She is survived by a sister, Caroline Post of Monessen, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Helen Mandarino of Monessen, Raymond and Dolores Mandarino of Las Vegas, NV, two sisters-in-law, Mary Mandarino of Monessen, and Veronica Mandarino of the State of California, a brother-in-law, Ben Karol, and by numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leon J. "Leo" Karol, two brothers Ralph and Richard Mandarino, and by a brother-in-law Francis Post.Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church.
