Edward J. Matay, 80, of Belle Vernon, went to be with his loving wife Josephine in heaven, on Monday, May 23, 2011 in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Aspinwall.He was born in Bentleyville on December 11, 1930, the son of the late Nicholas and Hazel (Andrews) Matay. Ed was a life long resident of the Mon Valley and a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church and the American Legion. He was a retired pipe fitter, having worked at the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, and had owned and operated "La Pizzeria Pizza Shop" in Monessen for 30 years. Ed served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy, having been assigned to a destroyer, the U.S.S. Royal in the Pacific.Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and also loved to listen to country and polka music.He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Barbara Matay of Rostraver Twp., a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Richard Loutitt of Carroll Twp., a granddaughter, Erica Renee Matay of Rostraver Twp., brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Mary Lou Matay of Bentleyville, sister, Rosalie Laktash of Bentleyville, numerous nieces and nephews, and by his companion Stoney, his cat.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Josephine N. (Bona) Matay, and by three brothers, Laverne, Michael, and Robert Matay.Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 25th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Thursday, May 26th at 10:00 am in the funeral home, with Fr.
