David R. Victoria Sr., 95, of Rostraver Twp., formerly of Monessen, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg following a short illness.He was born in Monessen on April 5, 1911, the son of the late Peter and Maria (Mori) Victoria. Mr. Victoria was a 1928 graduate of Monessen High School and lived in Monessen until moving to Rostraver Twp. 25 years ago. He owned and operated Victoria and Sons Trucking Company with his brother Americo, having started in Monessen, and then later moved to Webster. He was a member of the Church of St. Anne and its Holy Name Society, and was formerly a member of St. Cajetan R. C. Church in Monessen, having been a member of the church school board as well as involved in many other activities. He was a charter member and past president of the Monessen Lions Club, a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 954, the Italian Society of Mutual Aid, the Sons of Italy, the Elks Lodge #773, the Monessen AARP, the former N.I.P.A., and was a former member of the Mon Valley Chordsmen (Barbershop). Mr. Victoria served as a Monessen Councilman from 1950 until 1966 and was very active in the Monessen community. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Sparvieri Victoria, a son, Richard R. Victoria of New Stanton, a daughter and son-in-law, Vera and Vito Nigrelli of Clearwater, FL, two daughters-in-law, Libby Victoria of Grayslake, IL and Cynthia Victoria of Rostraver Twp., six grandchildren, Sarah Williams and husband Alston, Susan Michalski and husband Kevin, Richard T. Victoria and wife Andrea, Alexander D. Victoria, Paul Nigrelli and wife Astrid, and Joanna Nigrelli and husband Gregory Helmick, nine great-grandchildren, Isabella, Doiminic, Alexander, Samuel, Alston, Emma, Julia, Marc, and Andrew, and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son David R. Victoria Jr., two brothers, Nazareth and Americo Victoria, and by two sisters, Josephine Bodoia and Emma Victoria.Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home, Inc. 441 Reed Avenue Monessen (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Saturday Feb. 10, 2007, beginning with a 9:30 AM Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Monessen. On Friday evening, the Monessen Lions Club will conduct services at 7:30 PM, and the Knights of Columbus Council 954 will conduct services at 8:00 PM.
