Anita Kay Dzatko, 79, formerly of Monessen, died Sunday June 12, 2016 in Wexford Healthcare Center following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on October 24, 1936 in Monessen, the daughter of the late Charles Leonard and Catherine E. Riskey Hotchkiss. She was a life long resident of Monessen and a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and its Ladies Guild. She was also an active member of Eagles Aerie 2399 in Monessen, Eagles Aerie 1895 in Grove City, and a former member of the Monessen Board of Elections. Anita enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, playing bingo, and going to the casinos. She was the sweetest person and would light up a room when she walked in. She was the life of the party and had a generous heart. Anita was loved by all, especially her family. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Vernet of Monessen, son Ronald (Tina) Vernet of Shelby Twp., MI, daughter Mary Ann (Mitch) Kuchta of Allison Park, son Andrew (Diane) Dzatko, Jr. of Monessen; daughter Peggy Hepler of North Huntingdon; a stepson Mark Dzatko of Wichita, KS, twelve grandchildren, Heath Vernet, Matt (Emily) Rothwell, Michael Dzatko, Tracey (Greg) Adams, Anne Dzatko, Cameron and Arianna Kuchta, Kayla, Taylor, and Nicolas Hepler, Amanda (Jacob) Anders, Heather Gates, ten great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Andrew P. Dzatko Sr., her first husband, Donald E. Vernet, a sister Rebecca Lee Hotchkiss Povich, and by a stepson Thomas Dzatko. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held on Wednesday beginning with a Panachida at 9:30 am in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy, with Rev. Stephen Wahal officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Rostraver Twp. Parish rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home.
