Alberta Margaret Stima, 88, of Monessen, died on Sunday, March 28, 2010 in the Emergency Room of Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc..She was born in Donora on December 29, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Justina (Danesi) Girman. Mrs. Stima was a 1939 graduate of Donora High School, a graduate of California State Teachers College, and had done graduate work at Penn State University. She was an elementary school teacher having taught in Donora and Monessen, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church where she taught religious education for over 40 years. Mrs. Stima was also a member of St. Mary's Ladies Guild, PSAR, Westmoreland County Retired Teachers Assoc., Monessen Retired Teachers, Catholic Women's College Club, Italian-American Heritage Society, and the Monessen Meals on Wheels program, having served on their Board of Directors. She is survived by two sons, Michael W. Stima of Tampa, FL, Thomas J. Stima and wife Debra of Louisville, KY, four grandchildren, Tisha (Jonathan) Silverman of Arlington, Mass., Chris (Melissa) Stima of Louisville, KY, Melissa Stima of Monessen, Thomas J. Stima of Louisville, KY, seven great grandchildren, Maxwell and Noah Silverman, Kayla, Dylan, and Ethan Stima, Eden Holland, and John Meyers, brother-in-law, Harry Fleming of Huntington, PA, and by several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael W. Stima Jr. in April of 1977, a grandson Joseph Michael Stima in July of 2002, and by a sister Jean Fleming in Feb. 2010.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, beginning with a 10:30 am Prayer in the funeral home, followed by 11:00 am Funeral Services in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Wahal officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery Donora.Parastas services will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 pm in the funeral home.
