Adam A. Masci, 79, of Monessen, died Monday, July 18, 2011 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.He was born in Monessen on April 7, 1932, the son of the late Antonio and Josephine (Como) Masci. Adam was a life long resident of Monessen and a 1952 graduate of Monessen High School. While attending school, he played fullback for the Greyhound football team, being name a "Big 6 All-star" in 1951. He later played baseball for the Monessen Ozark's, playing in the Mon Valley Sandlot Baseball League, and played for the Monessen Legion Baseball Team. Adam was assistant coach for the Jefferson Bulldogs Midget League Football Team in Monessen, and was assistant coach for the Monessen Ozark's Legion Baseball Team. Adam was a true Greyhound fan, having attended as many football, baseball, softball, and basketball games as he could, supporting both the boys and girls teams. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church, Italian Society of Mutual Aid, Thomas McKee Post 28 of the American Legion, Croatian Home, and a former member of the Sunday Club. Adam retired from the American Chain and Cable Company's Page Plant in Monessen, and went on to work construction for Frank Irey Inc. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 with Company D of the 120th Engineer Battalion.He is survived by two sisters, Loretta DiBiaso and Virginia Marcozzi of Monessen, a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Rita Masci of Monessen, nieces and nephews; Linda O'Keefe, Ed and Mark Masci, Diane Guzevich, Louis and Lynn Ann Marcozzi, and by great nieces and great nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law Edmund and Mildred Masci, two brothers-in-law, Richard DiBiaso and Louis Marcozzi, two nephews, Michael and Robert DiBiaso and by a great nephew Larry DiBiaso.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm, and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue Monessen, (724-684-8750).Services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011, beginning with a 9:30 am Blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass in Epiphany of Our Lord R. C. Church.
